Helena Hinn

“All my early memories are of forms and shapes and textures” Barbara Hepworth - sculptor

About

I was born in, and now live in Newcastle on Tyne, England, although I spent time in North East Scotland and Blackpool, a surrealist seaside town which fired my susceptible imagination, as a child.

I studied Fine Art in the Seventies, and began to write poetry and stories in 1984. My visual sensibilities started to resurface in my writing by way of visual poems.

I write short fiction, short poems and novellas.

Influences: Graham Sutherland, Helen Chadwick, the Symbolists, Meret Oppenheim, Robertson Jeffers, Dilys Bennett Laing, Hildegard of Bingen.
