Doll

Mrs Glennie next doore had given her the doll and Molly had almost snatched it out of her hands, so keen was she to get her hands on the doll. (Her mother had rebuked her later).

Molly had always longed for a doll like that - the bow lips, the toffee-coloured eyes, the removeable linen bonnet and the posh checked dress.

For long minutes she would gaze into Clara's dark eyes and kiss here unanswering ruby lips.
